America Service Group Inc., through its subsidiaries, has worked with government agencies for over 25 years, bringing to their correctional facilities and their incarcerated populations a comprehensive continuum of managed health care services.

The incarcerated population in the United States is currently estimated at 2.1 million individuals.* Each of these individuals has constitutionally protected rights which afford them an appropriate level of health care while incarcerated.

Local, state and federal governments are charged with the responsibility of making sure that their incarcerated populations receive a standard of care consistent with constitutional standards. While a majority of correctional agencies continue to self-operate their health care programs, the trend over the past decade has shown agencies moving toward outsourcing these programs to private providers, like the affiliated companies of ASG. This public / private partnership produces quality services, cost savings and regulation compliance expertise, as well as enhanced recruitment and retention. These benefits explain much of the recent shift. At present, the company estimates, that based on revenues, 43% of the country's correctional health care market is outsourced to private and community providers. ASG proudly services 21% of this estimated outsourced market.
